Hill Chateau

Chateau de Nice, Chateau Castle Hill, La Colline du Chateau, Chateau Park, Parc de la Colline du Chateau, Castle Hill
France, Nice
In the Middle Ages, a castle was erected on the Chateau hill to protect local residents from pirate raids, but at the beginning of the 18th century. he was destroyed. Castle Hill rises at a height of 90 m above the level of the city, it can be reached by numerous paths and stairs or by elevators. From this hill the midday cannon shot sounds over Nice every day. At the top, there are several lookouts that offer stunning views of the Old Port of Nice, the Bay of the Angels, and the Promenade des Anglais. There is a park area with a botanical garden, several artificial waterfalls, ruins and the Bellanda Tower. There is a cafe, a souvenir shop, as well as an equipped playground, benches and toilets. Even on the Chateau hill there is a cemetery with luxurious tombstones, sculptures and crypts, where many representatives of the Russian and European aristocracy are buried.

It is not for nothing that Chateau Park is called the most beautiful park in the city. I would say that this is a wild park, but this is its charm. It is a favorite vacation spot for locals and tourists. It is also called Castle Hill. There are observation platforms that offer beautiful views of the port and the Bay of Angels, recreation areas, cafes and artificial waterfalls. Many people come here to watch the sunset. Chateau hill rises above the city, you can get to it by numerous paths and stairs.

Above Nice rises the Châ teau hill, which rests on the east side of the Promenade des Anglais. You can climb 92 meters to the observation platform on stone steps, but there is a free elevator almost to the top. There are no call buttons next to the doors, no “move” button in the booth - they watch you and send the elevator as it fills up. I was alone, I had to endure until the observer got tired of waiting for the booth to be replenished by others. Perhaps, during this time, I could have managed to climb on foot.
