In the Middle Ages, a castle was erected on the Chateau hill to protect local residents from pirate raids, but at the beginning of the 18th century. he was destroyed. Castle Hill rises at a height of 90 m above the level of the city, it can be reached by numerous paths and stairs or by elevators. From this hill the midday cannon shot sounds over Nice every day.
