The church was previously called Saint-Pooire. Before the revolution, it was a monastery at the abbey of Saint-Per-de-Shartre, first mentioned in the document of 1115. The Church of St. Patern was rebuilt on the foundation of the old building in the 19th century on the model of churches of the 13th century, and, like most buildings copied from an earlier period, is often criticized, is considered massive and cold. But this is not so, inside there are some rare elements that the visitor is useful to detect: a mosaic depicting the cross of St. Thomas, beautiful stained glasses, the marble statue of Charles Deverny, beautiful paintings ...
It is located right near the railway station, so it is difficult to skip it and it is better to see it first, because after the cathedral it will not be so impressive.
