Place Vendôme, designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart in 1699 in classicist style, is close to the Grand Opera. In the center of the square, there is a 44-meter Vendome column with a statue of Napoleon. On the western side is the famous Ritz Hotel, where Ernest Hemingway, Coco Chanel, Charlie Chaplin and many other celebrities stayed at different times. The best jewelry stores in Paris are also located on the square.

Beautiful square.
If you find a monument to Joan of Arc, then easily go to Place Vendô me. If you are lucky, the reconstruction of the facades will be completed and you will see all the beauty of the square. Behind the same facades, completely different premises are attached. You can drink coffee in one of the cafes, even if it is from one of the hotels, and in jewelers you can buy interesting things and not very expensive. To my regret, since 2011 I cannot find the square without partial restoration.→

Glitter gold and diamonds
The square was created to frame the statue of Louis XIV. As planned by the king, luxurious mansions, a mint, and a library were supposed to stand around. But there was no money in the treasury, and the land was sold to bankers and merchants. During the revolution, the statue was destroyed. And now in the center of the square rises the Column in honor of Napoleon, built on the model of Trajan's Column in Rome. It is also known for the fact that the Ritz Hotel is located here. I advise young ladies to take a walk along the jewelry showcases and admire the famous trademarks.→
