Collegial church

Collegial Catholic Church at Saint-Youlion
France, Saint-Emilion
The collegial Catholic Church in St. Emilion, rising in the heart of this magic medieval town, is a model of Romanesque architecture. Its construction began in the XII century, and today it is striking in its monumentality and harmony of lines. The massive bell tower of the church, proudly towering above the roofs of St. Emilion, is an excellent landmark and offers beautiful panoramic views for vineyards and surrounding landscapes.

Inside, the church is striking in its harsh beauty and a sense of centuries -old history. Pay attention to the carved capitals of the columns and other architectural details that have preserved the spirit of past centuries. The collegial church was an important religious center of the region and is an integral part of the cultural heritage of St. Emillion, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Her visit will be an important addition to your journey through this picturesque corner of France.

This church was built at the beginning of the 12th century by Augustinian monks, construction continued until the 16th century. It is now the parish church of Saint-Emilion. Concerts are held in the church every year. This is one of the largest churches in the Gironde. Inside is a sculpture of St. Valerie, the local patron of winemakers (near the treasury door), which dates back to the 16th century. It has been a historical monument since 1840. Don't miss the cloister, which dates back to the 14th century.
