The Church of Agio Theodora is located near the Klaftmonos square in the center of Athens. This is a reminder of the 11th century. On the wall above the entrance to the temple, there is an inscription about the fact that the temple was restored by the Byzantine official Nikolaos Kalomalos in 1049 of our era. The church is a simple double-sided cross-like shape with an inscribed narthex and dome. The dzvinitsa from the left side is the one above the building, and it included fragments of the marmur iconostasis of the church. The interior frescoes date back to the 20th century and were painted by Athanasios Kandris. The Church experienced serious damage during the revolution of 1821, but was restored in 1840.
The temple is of a different type of transitional type with a cross-like shape inscribed with a dome. There are strong later walls at the entrance to the dome and arches in several vaults. The variation is noticeably rare and indicates the archaic nature and/or impossibility of finding marmur columns for another wiki. The walls were made in the standard technique of being completely covered and decorated with ceramic decor (kufi). In the interior, of particular interest is the iconostasis with its rich aroma and rare theme and relief embellishments.
Excavations carried out in 1967 by Pavlos Lazarides near the Church of Agios Theodora showed that it was built on the relics of ancient ancient times, possibly Roman villages, and a tomb dating back more than a long time.
