When the people descended to the throne of Kostiantina I in 1868, the sons of George I and Olga, the municipality of Athens desired the building of the temple in his honor. In 1870, the municipal council entrusted the design and construction of the church to Lisandros Kaftanzoglou. The life of the church began in 1871. The church was completed in 1905 after the sponsorship of Queen Olga. Having painted the church by Anastasios Loukidis, he was assisted by Fotis Kontoglu and Dimitrios Dimas. Lukidis started the iconography in 1927 and continued until 1932, and the rest of the work was painted in 1953.→
