Palace of the Grand Master.
The Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes, also known as the Castello, is a medieval castle in the city of Rhodes, on the island of Rhodes in Greece. It is one of the few examples of Gothic architecture in Greece. It was formerly a citadel of the Knights Hospitaller, which functioned as a palace, headquarters, and fortress. According to recent research, the site where the palace stands today is the site of the foundations of an ancient temple to the sun god Helios, and is likely the site where the Colossus of Rhodes stood in antiquity.→

Rhodes Fortress
The fortifications of Rhodes are shaped like a defensive crescent around the medieval city and consist of a huge stone wall, equipped with an escarpment, bastions, a ditch, a counter-scarp and a glacis. The part of the fortifications facing the harbor, instead, consists of a battlement. On the piers are towers and defensive forts. They were built by the Knights Hospitaller of Saint John, reinforcing the existing Byzantine walls, starting in 1309, the year they captured the island after a three-year struggle.→
