The National Monument, or Monas for short, is located in the heart of Jakarta. Erected in the 1970s, this obelisk, over 130 meters high, is a symbol of Indonesian freedom. On the ground floor of the tower is a small museum dedicated to the history of Indonesia. On the upper floors of the monument is an observation deck, which can be reached by elevator.
