Ubud's main city art museum is Puri Lukisan, which means "painting palace". It was opened in 1956 with the participation of the Dutch artist Rudolf Bonnet. The central part of the museum is dedicated to painting and sculpture itself, and in the western part you can look at the work of artists from such areas as Young Artists, Ubud School and Pengosekan.
