tower of david

Citadel of David, Citadel, Tower of David, Migdal David
Israel, Jerusalem
The Tower of David is located near the Jaffa Gate at the entrance to the Old City. Despite its name, it has nothing to do with King David and was built in the 2nd century BC to defend the city. The tower has been well preserved to this day. In 1989, the museum of the same name was opened here. And in its vicinity, city events and colorful shows are often held.

The citadel or Migdal of David was built in the 2nd century BC. e. to defend the Old City of Jerusalem. From the walls of the tower offers a bewitching view of Jerusalem, both old and modern. And in the fortress itself there is the Museum of the History of Jerusalem, where you can see and feel all the splendor of antiquity. I really liked walking through the picturesque courtyards, looking into the corners, examining the walls of 2.000 years ago, admiring the arches of the Crusaders. So many different conquerors visited these walls, they were destroyed and built.
