King Solomon's quarry is a quarry where, according to legend, white limestone was mined in the 10th century BC for the construction of the city and Solomon's temple. The cave was first discovered in 1850 by American explorer James Barclay. The total area of ​​the quarry is about 9000 sq. m. and almost all of it is available to visitors. The quarries are located near the Damascus Gate and Garden Tomb.

The cave was found by chance while walking along the wall of the old city. There were almost no tourists there. This fact strengthened the impression. They say that freemasons conduct their rituals here, as they consider King Solomon to be the first biblical Freemason. And yes ...in the photo is my shadow with a camera)
