Wall of Tears

Western Wall, Wailing Wall, Kotel
Israel, Jerusalem
The Western Wall is a part (485 m long) of the retaining wall around the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, which survived the destruction of the Second Temple by the Romans in 70 AD. e. In Western tradition, the Western Wall is known as the "Wailing Wall" because it has been a symbol of faith and hope for generations of Jews for centuries.

The Wailing Wall is the holiest place for Jews. Already in the first centuries after the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem, it became a place of prayer, where Jews mourn the destruction of the Temple and pray to God for the rebirth of the people of Israel in their country, a place symbolizing the former greatness of Israel and hope for its future.

The Wailing Wall in Jerusalem is the main shrine in Judaism and one of the most famous religious sites in Israel, which can be seen not only by the believer, but by anyone. We have been there several times, several years apart. There are always a lot of people near the wall. Tourists and pilgrims come to her from all over the world. Someone goes just to touch, someone puts a note, and someone stands and prays near the wall day and night. I think this shrine is a must visit. And it's not about whether a person is a believer or not.

An iconic place to visit. Not visiting the Wailing Wall - what's the point of an Israeli trip? Although there are many different impressive places in Jerusalem, but this is the basis of everything. Everyone comes here: from the religious and not so, they leave little notes. There are always a lot of people - not to squeeze through. It is divided into two parts, and before approaching it, you need to wash your hands.

The Wailing Wall is the only fragment of the Temple Mount wall that has survived to this day. A fragment of one of the millions of prayers.. .

The Wailing Wall is a very important place for the Jews. It has become a place of prayer, where Jews mourn the destruction of the Temple and pray to God for the rebirth of the people of Israel in their country, a place that symbolizes the former greatness of Israel and hope for its bright future. Religious Jews around the world pray towards Israel, Jews in Israel pray towards Jerusalem, and Jews in Jerusalem pray towards the Western Wall. It has become a custom for millions of people around the world to put notes between the stones of the Wailing Wall.
