The Red Fort of Agra is the former residence of the rulers of the Mughal Empire, which is located just 3 km from the Taj Mahal over the Yamuna River. The construction of the fort began in 1565; at the beginning of the 17th century, it was significantly expanded. The whole complex is surrounded by a wall of red sandstone, its height is 21 m, the length is about 2.5 km. Inside the defensive fort are several palaces and mosques, gardens and fountains, as well as a tomb. Part of the Red Fort complex is still used for military purposes and is closed to travelers.

Amazing building
I did not expect to see such a high-quality historical and cultural monument in a rather dirty and poorly preserved India's cultural heritage. The construction impresses with its size, subtleties of surface treatment, carvings, bas-reliefs. Interesting layout, you can walk for a long time. There are no annoying sellers inside, which also raised the value of the object. If you are going to the Taj Mahal - do not miss it, the Red Fort is highly recommended for viewing→

India is a wonderland! And the Red Fort in Agra is simply amazing!
India is truly a wonderland! A country of contrasts and contradictions, where the air is permeated with originality and ancient traditions. They sometimes surprise, sometimes frighten and even shock, but they certainly do not leave you indifferent. The journey to this distant country has become for us an enchanting fairy tale that has settled in our hearts forever. Frankly, we did not plan the route very carefully and acted more on inspiration. This was our first acquaintance with India, and we decided to start it, according to tradition, with the classic triangle - Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and of course, soak up the gentle rays of the tropical sun in Goa.→
