Founded in 1976 in Madras (now Chennai) crocodile farm - Crocodile Bank, is breeding crocodiles in order to preserve three rare endangered species: swamp, sea, gharial - the longest of the existing crocodiles. The Croc Bank Research Center is one of the largest zoos in the world with a collection of reptiles and amphibians.
The farm is also inhabited by 10 species of turtles, 3 species of snakes (cobras and albino snakes) and water lizards.
