Amber Fort was once the capital of the state of Jaipur. This huge, magnificent palace-fortress is a striking example of Rajput architecture. Maharajah himself used to climb here on elephants - now this attraction is very popular among tourists. Don't waste your money - it's worth it. Only female elephants participate in the climb, because elephants can be aggressive and unpredictable. Each elephant, according to the laws of the state, only makes 4 ascents and descents, and then rests. So hurry - the rise is only available until noon.

Amber Fort - the city-fortress of Maharaja Man Singh I - the commander-in-chief of Akbar's army - 11 km from Jaipur was built on the crest of a rocky hill. The construction of the fortress began in 1592. The temple of the goddess Kali, who patronized him, was built right there. Until the accession of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II (1699-1743) and the founding of Jaipur, this fort was the capital of possessions. Having settled in pairs on elephants, we will get to the fortress through Surazh Pol (Sun Gate), which leads to the Main Courtyard of Jaleb Chowk.
