Ski region Kronplatz

Well!

We went to Kronplatz with some skepticism, because before that we had been to Sö lden and Ischgl, and clearly understood that the resort would be smaller here. But they left with a vengeance!

The resort was chosen for three main reasons:
Firstly, a free ski pass for children under 8 years old, and this is a rarity in the Alps. I think for this he is loved by children's ski schools. There are many kids on the slopes in groups with instructors.

Secondly, cheap accommodation compared to any other resort. Housing for three for 6 nights at the peak of the season cost €420, and it was 150 meters on foot to the track.

Thirdly, the resort is part of the Dolomiti Superski region, you can buy a general ski pass for 1200 km of slopes and go to neighboring resorts, which we did in the second half of the holiday.

Trails and lifts
Many interesting and varied black runs. Just a lot, and very diverse. No. 1 and No. 4 - long 5 km, pass through the forest. No. 32R - straight, wide and even, always perfectly ironed.
No. 45 - a black track that runs across the field, between houses, is very unusual. Some German portal chose it as the best black track in some recent year.

There is a very long 15-kilometer track, but in a couple of places get ready to “row” with sticks for a long and tedious time. I do not know how those who are on the boards pass this site. In my opinion, they camp in the middle and wait for the evening detour of the tracks to leave on a snowmobile : -)

There are many blue runs, and they are all densely occupied by children's groups, from babies to grey-haired old men : -)

Lots of fast cabanas, which is great because we spent more time on the slope than sitting in a slow chair.

Due to the small height of the mountain, the forest begins quite close to the top. And most of the trails take place in the forest, and not among the bare stones as in Ischgl or Sö lden. For me, for example, a cozy forest with a wide track is nicer than bare weathered fields.
Skipass for Kronplatz €240 for 6 days, or €275 for the entire Dolomiti Superski region. In general, the prices for ski passes in the Alps are very uniform. €220-275, it will be cheaper only in some small and backward resorts with 1-2 ski lifts. More expensive only in Switzerland.

Restaurants
As usual, there is a big self-service at the top of the mountain, and a lot of restaurants in different places. Average soup €8, tea €2, coffee €3. Quite democratic, if you forget about the rate at which I bought these euros : -) The most inexpensive restaurant on the mountain is Sun Pizza at the bottom of 10-11 slopes, right at the entrance to the lift. It doesn't look like much, but the pizza there is great, and the soups are decent. We saved money, so we had breakfast and dinner in the room.

Housing
It seems to me that the best place to live is San Vigilio di Marebbe, there are a lot of inexpensive housing close to the slopes. The city of Bruneck is far from the ski lifts, but it has one street in the outskirts that runs right along the slope. But, judging by the appearance, the hotels on it are expensive.

Audience and atmosphere
We have never heard Russian speech! Never! Not on the slopes, not in restaurants, not in shops - nowhere! Most Italians, at least half. But there are also many visitors - Germans, Poles, Slovenes, Czechs, all very good-natured, talkative. Once we rode in a cab with a slightly drunken company of Italians. They spoke loudly, there was a fumes in the whole cabin, one had a broken arm and freshly bandaged, but he didn’t stop drinking and riding : -)

We were in the high season (judging by the prices for ski passes), but there was no trace of congestion on the slopes. The maximum queue for the lift is no more than 5 minutes.

Italian cops are called carabinieri, and so we saw two ski carabinieri, they have real carabinieri skis with the inscription "carabinieri" and helmets in the color of the skis. Beauties, see photos.

Around Kronplatz
Half an hour by car is Sella Ronda - a huge region with a bunch of resorts, the famous Marmolada and, in fact, Ronda.
The closest resort is Alta Badia, from here you can already get without removing your skis to any end of Ronda. We were with a child, so we did not dare to do the whole circle. Alta Badia is a strange resort, I would not recommend it, I will write about it separately.

The next resort in distance from Kronplatz is Arabba with an “appendix” to the top of Marmolada. Great region, I would come here next year. I will write about it separately.

You can go for a walk in the city of Bruneck, there is an excellent pedestrian promenade with a bunch of shops, a castle, a church.

Weather and seasons
The height of the top of Kronplatz (Concordia) is 2000 m, that is, the mountain is small by the standards of the Alps. This means that at the beginning and at the end of the season, the snow will be worse than at other resorts. But on the other hand, in the high season there will not be such winds and frosts as, for example, on the three-thousanders of Selden.

I wish you a good ride!
