We were in early October, got on 1 free Sunday, the queue to the Colosseum was 2-3 hours. We decided not to stand. But as it turned out, after a couple of days people stood in line for tickets at the box office, which is located exactly in the Colosseum. And the ticket office, which is opposite it, closer to the Forum, almost without a queue. And if you buy a ticket in it, then you immediately go in, bypassing this crowd. We decided to buy tickets in the Palatine, we thought after it to go to the Colosseum, but on the ticket it is displayed yesterday to visit the Colosseum (10-15 minutes from the time of buying the ticket), so we had to return and go without a queue to the Colosseum. Also, the entrance to the Palatine and the Forum is the same, that is, if you go to one place, then you can get to another through the first, because if you leave, they will not let you into the second location on the same ticket.
From the Palatine there is a clear sign to the Forum, but in the Forum it’s hard to find it (we didn’t notice any signs), since it is a small narrow arch on the left side of the forum, not reaching the ascent to the top, closer to the entrance to the Forum.
