Doge's Palace

Palazzo Ducale, Doge's Palace
Italy, Venice
The Doge's Palace is a monument of Italian Gothic architecture (XIV - XV centuries). Presumably the architect of the first version of the palace was Filippo Calendario. The main construction was carried out in 1309-1424.

This main building of Venice was primarily the residence of the Doges of the Republic. Together with St. Mark's Cathedral, the San Marco Library and other buildings, it forms the main architectural ensemble of the city. The building is currently a museum.

In reality, the museum makes a brighter impression than in the photo. I advise everyone who visits Venice to look into this wonderful building. The room of the Great Council, which is located under the roof of the Doge's Palace, was most striking. This is a huge place where you can see a lot of interesting things. The frescoes and murals of the hall simply amaze with their splendor. Many impressions remained from visiting the prison and its cell. The only disappointment is that there is no audio guide in Russian.

It is one of the most recognizable architectural monuments in Venice. For those who love architecture and painting - highly recommend! Very beautiful and intricate. If you come across a good guide, you will also listen to interesting stories related to this palace. There is a lot of walking, steps, stairs, halls...it is impossible to get out of here until you have examined everything. If you came here without a tour, I advise you to prepare in advance and read about the palace, because there is no audio guide in Russian here.

I happened to visit the Doge's Palace with an individual tour (for 7 people), so the memories are the most positive. And the most memorable for me is Bosch's Katrina, I did not expect to meet them there. There is a lot of information about the palace, so you can do it yourself.
