Petra

Petra Treasury
Jordan, Petra
Petra is an ancient city located on the territory of modern Jordan, in the Siq canyon. The city occupies a large area and stretches for several kilometers. On its territory there is a colonnade and an amphitheater, testifying to the presence of the Romans in the city in the I-II centuries. But the main pearl of Petra is the famous rock temple-mausoleum of El-Khazne, carved entirely from the rock in the 1st century.
Every year about half a million tourists come to visit Petra, the ancient city is considered the most popular tourist attraction in Jordan. In 2007, the city was chosen as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.

If you have never been to the cave cities of Crimea, on excursions to Demre-Mira-Kekova in Turkey, and the Colored Canyon in Egypt, then you simply need to visit Petra, thus combining three excursions. It is preferable, of course, that you live in Taba, then the tour will not seem tedious to you - you will be picked up at 6 in the morning and returned by 7 in the evening. We lived in Sharm El Sheikh, so our trip was much longer. In addition, I saw all of the above objects, so I did not experience any special enthusiasm from Petra.

The ancient city of Petra can definitely be attributed to one of the wonders of the world. It is so Global, Monumental, Fantastically beautiful and Beautiful - that there are simply no words. On emotions alone, you can make a route with a length of about 7 kilometers, the path of which passes through the gorge. Throw on a jacket from the cool wind and immediately undress, falling under the scorching rays of the sun. Fight off local Bedouins along with their donkeys, horses, camels and Chinese magnets.

Resting in Egypt, we went on an excursion to Petra. It was the most memorable trip. We drove from Sharm el-Sheikh to Taba, and from there by ferry to Jordanian Aqaba. The ferry is very comfortable, so are the Jordanian buses, but the road from Sharm to Taba is very tiring, especially after a day of walking on the way back. From Aqaba to Petra, the road took about 3 hours with stops. The bus was left in the parking lot, above the entrance to Petra, and then began a hike of about 7 km in length in both directions.
