One day, the Už upis district in Vilnius, which translates as "District", was declared a virtual microstate. The project was aimed at attracting tourists, since the area itself has long been abandoned and lived there mainly by the poor. Of course, this independence is formal, but tourists have since included this area in their list of local attractions when visiting Vilnius. The republic has: an anthem, a flag, a coat of arms, a territory, customs, a permanent population, elections, a government and even an army. Why not a state within a state? However, it is worth recognizing that when you get to Už upis, you do not find yourself in some other world, but only in a quarter where graffiti and neglect are everywhere, presented by local artists as originality. However, it’s still worth looking at it once and be sure to read the constitution, it will cheer you up a lot : )
