The island of Gospa od Skrpela, or Madonna on the Reef, is located in the Bay of Kotor, opposite the city of Perast. This is the only man-made island in the Adriatic Sea, its area is about 3,000 square kilometers. On the island is the famous Church of the Mother of God in Montenegro.

Man-made island - a pearl in the Bay of Kotor
This island is located opposite the city of Perast and is called the island of Gospa od Shkrpela (“Madonna on the Reef”, “Mother of God on the Rock”). This is a man-made island with an interesting history. Once upon a time, an icon of the Mother of God was found here on the reef, which later helped many people to recover from illnesses. In gratitude, people built a church here, sinking more than 100 ships on this site. Each ship passing by had to throw a stone to the bottom. After 200 years, people were able to build a church on this site.→
