Under Rabat there are many early Christian catacombs, the total area of which is about three square kilometers. Only a few of them are open to the public.
The catacombs of Saint Agatha are located under the church of the same name. There are pagan, Punic and Jewish burials here, but only the Christian part of the catacombs is open to visitors: chambers with tombs are located on the sides of dark and narrow corridors. The remains of ancient frescoes have been preserved on the walls of some tombs.
