Around the lake, a Hindu temple of the god Shiva and a sanctuary of the monkey god Hanuman were erected, colorful statues of other gods and a statue of a sacred cow, revered by Hindus as a mother, were installed.
Around the lake there are sacrificial pedestals for offerings to the gods, according to the established tradition, these are fruits, rice, sweets and flowers. In 2007, a statue of Shiva 33 meters high, with a trident in his hand, was erected 2 km from the lake. Lake Ganga Talao with the temple of the god Shiva is one of the main tourist attractions of the island of Mauritius.
