Revolution Monument

Monumento a la Revolucion, Monument of the Revolution
Mexico, Mexico
The monument dedicated to the Mexican Revolution of 1910 is located on the Republic Square of Mexico City's main street - Reformist Avenue.
The Monument to the Revolution was opened in 1938 on the foundation of the unfinished building of the Mexican Parliament due to problems with marshy soils. The monument designed by the architect Carlos Obregon Santachil in the form of an arch with a dome has a height of 67 meters, limited by the structure of the soil under the building. An elevator leads to the top of the monument with an observation deck. The monument is a mausoleum for many leaders of the Mexican Revolution who are no longer alive. There is also a museum dedicated to the Mexican Revolution. In the basement there is an art gallery, in which the paintings are placed between the steel beams that serve as the base of the monument. On the eastern side of the monument there are fountains with evening illumination and jets splashing in different rhythms. On the Republic Square, where the Revolution monument is located, various concerts and festivals are often held.
