I went to Katedra Oliwska for a presentation of a new organ. Contrary to expectations, the repertoire was predominantly secular: Schubert, Fibich, ...and, of course, Johann Sebastianich's Toccata in D minor. The organ is good!
The church is decorated with love and taste, it is the oldest building in the Gdansk Pomerania, it was rebuilt more than once, it got its current look in the period 1579-1772. The faç ade includes two tall towers pointing to the sky and a baroque portal from 1688, despite the fact that the cathedral was built in the Gothic style. The cathedral was the main temple of Pomerania and was the tomb of the local princes. A charming cloud hovers over the Altar - "beautiful and inspires hope", and one would like to think that there is someone behind the cloud who, somewhere, someday, can at least somehow help you. Just have to wait a long time, life is not enough!
