The house is located at the foot of the Wawel Hill and is the last on Canon Street. It was built in the 14th century as a royal bath, but from the 15th century it became the residence of the canons of the Cathedral, one of whom was Jan Dlugosz, who left his name to the house. He is famous as the author of "History of Poland" in 12 volumes. Jan Dlugosz has lived in the house since 1450, worked on his works and died here in 1480. Until the XIX century the house was inhabited by canons, but from the XIX century the tradition was interrupted and the house began to rent. For some time it housed the studio of sculptor Františ ek Wyspianski, the father of the famous Cracow artist Stanisł aw Wyspianski.

Dlugosz House has preserved its medieval appearance better than other houses on the street. Fragments of the masonry of the first floor and basements, as well as two windows on the main facade remain from the Gothic building.
The rest of the windows and the portal with the motto "Nil est in homine bona mente melius" - "There is nothing better in man than the mind" - appeared in the second half of the XVI century. By the way, instructive mottos in Latin over the portals - one of the features of Canon Street.
