It was designed by architect Vaclav Kryzhanovsky. On October 9.1932, the Archbishop of Cracow, Adam Sapiga, laid the cornerstone of the church. Six years later it was completed and consecrated. The church is built in the Art Nouveau style, the nave in the form of a Latin cross, above its intersection with the transept rises an openwork bell tower. It is 45 meters high and is the architectural dominant of the Dembniki district. Stained glass windows and mosaics of the temple were made in the 1980s.

A large memorial plaque has been erected on the facade of the church on October 6.1980. She testifies that Carol Wojtyla, the future Pope John Paul II, lived in the area from 1938-1944 and prayed in this temple. Here, on November 3.1946, he celebrated his first Mass.
