The Romanesque church was built in the first half of the 12th century at the expense of Peter Vlast of Skszyn. Rebuilt in the first half of the XVII century; to this day belongs the baroque facade with a picture of the Blessed Virgin. In 1715 the church was handed over to the present, who ran a school for girls here.
In 1715-1726 the church was rebuilt by the architect Katzper Bazhanka. The present church is a baroque building with preserved Gothic and Romanesque fragments (crypt under the presbytery); single-nave with a semicircular presbytery. In the main altar there is an icon of the Mother of God of венwię tokrzyskie from the redemption of prisoners of the early 16th century and sculptures of Saints John the Baptist and John the Theologian, probably made by Anthony Fronchkovich (first half of the 18th century). Adjacent to the nave is a chapel where the relics of the founder of the Order of Presents Sophia of the Czech Republic, born Maciejowska (first half of the 17th century), rest.
To the right of the main entrance is a memorial plaque, which shows that on July 28.2016, Pope Francis was here.
