Monument to Jozef Pilsudski

The monument to the outstanding Polish statesman Jozef Pilsudski is located in the center of Krakow. It was installed in 2008 on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of Poland's independence. The monument consists of several elements: the figure of Jozef Pilsudski in military uniform with a saber; breaking the eagle's chains at his feet; a 9-meter flagpole located nearby, crowned with the top of a marshal's baton; a pedestal a little further away with figures of four legionnaires and an inscription from a World War I song "We, the First Brigade."

The monument was unveiled on the 90th anniversary of Poland's independence on November 10.2008. The author of the monument is a sculptor Cheslav Dzvigai. The monument consists of three parts: a sculpture of a marshal, a sculptural group of legionnaires and a flagpole. At the feet of the marshal - a flying Polish eagle. The sculptural group depicts legionnaires marching from the Krakow Oleanders. On the pedestal is the chorus of their song "We, the first brigade". The flagpole is wrapped in a garland of laurels and roses.
