On the old market square (along the western wall of the Town Hall), there is another very interesting fountain-monument called Studzenka Bamberki (Bamberka Well), closely connected with the history of the 18th century. It was then that poor Catholic farmers from the Bamberg region (in Bavaria, Germany) were invited (or they themselves asked, no one remembers) to come and settle in the villages left after the Great Northern War of 1700-1721 and the plague. Those who came were nicknamed the "bumbers" and quickly assimilated into the local community.
The statue is the "Frä ulein" of Bamberg, dressed in peasant attire - a full skirt, a puffy long sleeved blouse, a scarf and carrying 2 jugs of water (or rather wine) on a pole balanced on the shoulders. The bronze statue was placed on the edge of a deep oval stone trough (which may have been used for watering horses).
On the pedestal of the statue was a beautiful carving of the grains and fruits of the harvest, which the peasants probably grew. The fountain is located behind the town hall in front of the Bamburgh restaurant.
It is believed that this is a drinking fountain (although the water is somehow not visible there), and was built in 1915, and was financed by the Goldenring merchant family, specializing in the wine trade. The statue, cast in bronze, is the work of sculptor J. Zef Wakerle.
Be sure to look, maybe you will be able to drink water from it : ).
