In the very center of Poznan, south of the Old Market Square, one of the most remarkable baroque architectural monuments in Poland is located. The Church of St. Stanislaus the Bishop is also known as the Poznań Fara. The term “farny” (Pfarrei, “parish”), that is, parish, belonging only to the parish, and not to any monastic order. Finding this church is easy. From Stary Rynok Square, walk one block to the south, along Sventoslavskaya Street (1 Golomba Street).

Construction began in 1649, the developers were the Order of the Jesuits. The decoration of the church is very rich and original. Directly above the main entrance you can see the figure of Ignacy Loyola, the founder of the Jesuit Order. It is believed that not a single Polish shrine has such a pronounced manner of Roman Baroque, which has been called “triumphant Baroque” not without reason. Farah took its final form only in 1750.
Since 1798 the church has been the church of St. Mary Magdalene. It is impossible to pass it if you come to the old part of the city - it is very attractive and photogenic!
