The Warsaw Uprising of 1944 went down in history as a battle not only for the Polish capital, but also for the future of the country. As a sign of eternal memory of the participants in the uprising, the city authorities decided to erect a monument, and in 1989 its official opening took place. The sculptural group depicts soldiers of the Home Army who, like ghosts, rise from the ruins of the destroyed city and enter the battle. The author of the monument's design was the Polish sculptor Jacek Budyn.
