Merlion statue

Merlion, Merlion
Singapore, Singapore
Merlion is a symbol of Singapore, a mythical creature with the body of a fish and the head of a lion. The Merlion statue in Singapore is based on the emblem of the city, designed in 1964 by Fraser Brunner for the Singapore Tourism Board. Cast from concrete, the statue, 8.6 meters high and weighing 70 tons, is installed at the mouth of the Singapore River. On September 15, 1972, the opening ceremony of the Merlion Park was held, which was attended by the Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew. On Sentosa Island, in a recreation park, there is a 37-meter copy of the original statue.

Singapore itself is wonderful, and everything that is there is done very competently, according to Feng Shui, so that money flows, the state of mind is good and good health. The Merlion is the symbol of Singapore, which has absorbed the powers of two animals: the carp, which brings monetary success; and the lion, which provides the city with strength and confidence. Strange as it may seem, Singapore has both!
