In the center of Khodzhova Square stands the majestic palace of Anton Grassalkovich - the current residence of the President of Slovakia. The palace was built by order of one of the most influential dignitaries of the Holy Roman Empire - an adviser to Empress Maria Theresa Count Grassalkovich.

An area outside the city walls called the Dry Duty was chosen for the construction of the palace. The Baroque Palace, built in 1760 in the Baroque style, soon became the venue for the most magnificent balls in Bratislava. The entire top of the Hungarian nobility gathered here.

Famous musicians were invited to the palace of Count Grassalkovich to create a more solemn atmosphere. Joseph Haydn, who was in the service of Prince Esterhazy, spoke here. In 1772, in one of the halls of the palace, he gave a concert in honor of the daughter of Empress Maria Theresa and her husband. In 1897, this mansion passed to Archduke Friedrich.
At all times, the magnificent palace has been the subject of special attention of people in power. Thus, during the communist regime, Czechoslovak party leaders often visited here.
