New Bridge

Novy Most, New Bridge and Observation Deck, Most SNP
Slovakia, Bratislava
The SNP Bridge or the New Bridge across the Danube in Bratislava was constructed in the 70s of the last century. The design of the bridge is notable for the fact that, despite its impressive dimensions, it does not have a single support in the riverbed. A support tower rises above the bridge, supporting the entire structure of the bridge. At the top of the tower is a restaurant and an observation deck.

The new bridge, or SNP (Slovak National Uprising) Bridge, was built in 1967-1972 by engineers and architects Josef Lacko, Ladislav Kushnir, Ivan Slamen, Arpad Tesar and Josef Zvar. The bridges of the organization "Doprastav Bratislava" and "Gutne Montage Ostrava" were built. It is the only city in Bratislava that has no foothold in the Danube. Put into operation on August 26.1972. For its construction, most of Bratislava's Suburbs were destroyed, including almost the entire Jewish quarter. The steel bridge is suspended on one support 85 meters high.
