Sidi Bou Said

blue and white city
Tunis, Tunis
A picturesque city popular among tourists, located 20 km from the Tunisian capital. Sidi Bou Said was named after an Islamic preacher who lived in the 12th century. In addition to colorful streets and old houses, the city is famous for the fact that all the buildings here, including lanterns and benches, are made in white and blue colors. In the 1920s, Baron Rudolf d'Erlanger achieved such a decision from the city authorities. In addition, all buildings had to be built in the Andalusian style, thus preserving the unified architectural appearance of the city. Since then, Sidi Bou Said has been chosen by many famous artists.
