The amphitheater of Marmaris is located near the central city cemetery and is one of the few preserved ancient attractions of the resort. The open-air amphitheater was built, according to archaeologists, no earlier than the 5th century BC. e., in the form of a semicircle. There is a stage in the center of the building, the hall has 2 tiers, divided into sectors with 22 rows of seats in each and can accommodate more than 30,000 people. On the top of the amphitheater there is a wall with recesses in the form of arches to amplify the sound. In 1970, a major reconstruction of the amphitheater was carried out, after which it became possible to arrange concerts of symphonic music here.

Amphitheater in Marmaris

This ancient building (4-5 thousand years ago) was badly damaged, but in 1970 it was wonderfully restored. And now it is used for its intended purpose - various events and concerts (mainly symphonic ones) are held. There is wonderful acoustics. The amphitheater is located in the depths of the city - near the hill with a red flag (148. Sk, Hatipirimi Mh. , 48700 Marmaris)→
