Turkey, Istanbul
The Mihrimah Sultan Mosque is an amazing masterpiece of Muslim architecture. It is located near the ferry pier in the Uskudar area - this circumstance also gave it its second name "Iskele Cami". The mosque was built in the 16th century. by the famous Ottoman architect Sinan on the orders of the beloved daughter of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent - Mihrimah Sultan. There is a legend that the mosque is the embodiment of the secret and unrequited love of the architect Sinan for the beautiful Mihrimah Sultan, which is why it has such a magnificent, refined and beautiful appearance. Initially, it was a vast complex, which also included a hospital, a caravanserai and kitchens, but to this day only the mosque itself, the building of the madrasah and the primary school have survived here.

Mosques were built not only by sultans, but also by their wives. Mihrimah has already built two - on the European and on the Asian side. Pretty, feminine, cozy, but nothing particularly surprised.
