Tanzania, Zanzibar_city
For several centuries, Zanzibar has been one of the main exporters of spices in the world. Moreover, spices are the main source of income for the country's economy.
There are spice plantations open to tourists. They are located in the north of the country in the village of Kizimbani. Spices such as cloves, vanilla, cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon, various types of pepper grow here. During the tour, tourists can see how spices are grown, learn the history of the development of this area in Zanzibar, how spices are processed, and also purchase a fresh, high-quality product.

Who said paid? Entrance is absolutely free, if you want without a guide, but with a guide (he speaks a little Russian) and a local guide, we went through the garden. We were unlucky with the weather, it was raining lightly, but the conductor gave us huge palm leaves instead of umbrellas and dragged us through the garden. It took a long time to walk, the garden is big. There are many exotic plants that we have not seen in any country. It was educational to see how turmeric, almond, pepper, papaya, carambola, lemongrass, and most importantly the fruit Bixa orellana (fondant tree) grow.

I'll start with the backstory. It all started with the fact that Sultan Sayyid Said fell in love with Zanzibar so much that he moved his residence here from Oman. A few years after the conquest, once again touring his new possession, he suddenly discovers that cloves, recently brought from the Moluccas, are grown on the island. Soon the first clove plantations appeared in Zanzibar, and by the middle of the 19th century it had become the largest supplier of this spice in the world. Over the years, spices have become the main income of the island's economy.
