The fortress of St. Elizabeth is a system of city fortifications that arose in the middle of the 18th century. It was around her that Elisavetgrad arose - the current Kirovograd. The fortress played an important role in the Russian-Turkish war of 1768-1774, successfully repulsing the attack of the Turkish-Tatar army. It has been well preserved to this day; ancient cannons are installed near it.
