The monumental architectural ensemble, which rises on St. George's Hill in Lviv, has long been the main cathedral of Ukrainian Greek Catholics. The first temple dates back to 1280 and has always been a holy place ever since. The complex includes a cathedral, a bell tower, metropolitan chambers and chapter houses, a large park-garden. 18th century sculptures on the church are masterpieces by John Pinzel.

The interiors of the temple also impress with the richness and variety of iconography. Opposite the cathedral is the Palace of the Metropolitans, built by the architect Fessinger in the XVIII century in the Rococo style with some touches of classicism. The palace apartments are richly decorated. On the other side of the church stands a bell tower, which hangs the oldest bell in all of Ukraine. The inscription on it dates back to 1341 and testifies to the military disasters of ancient times. The east terrace of the temple courtyard offers a magnificent view of the city.
A monument to Metropolitan Andriy Sheptytsky has been erected in the square in front of the cathedral. A memorial plaque commemorating the events of 1683, when Ukrainian troops were formed to take part in the war with the Turks, has been erected on the wall surrounding the territory of the cathedral.
