Nikolaev catacombs are underground labyrinths under the city of Nikolaev. Their exact origin is still unknown. There are many myths and legends associated with the catacombs. Since the 1950s, there has been an active study of undergrounds, but at present most of the tunnels have been destroyed, and exploration has ceased.
