Poltava Art Museum

Poltava Art Museum
Ukraine, Poltava
The Mykola Yaroshenko Art Museum is located in the center of Poltava, in the Art Gallery. The museum was founded as an art gallery on April 27, 1919 by the Ukrainian archaeologist and museologist Mikhail Rudinsky on the basis of the collection of the itinerant artist N.A. Yaroshenko donated to his native city. For many years the museum was located in the former mansion of the landowner Bolyubash, built in the style of classicism. On the eve of the war, the museum's collection consisted of about 30 thousand exhibits, most of which perished during the Nazi occupation - only 4187 exhibits survived. In 1999, the Art Museum moved to the first floor of a purpose-built art gallery building. Its collection includes more than 9 thousand exhibits of fine and applied art. Among them are the works of Western European painters, Ukrainian and Russian artists, the largest collection of works by artists N. Yaroshenko and I. Myasoedov in Ukraine
