Georgievskaya (Yurievskaya) Church is a wooden Orthodox church, in the construction of which not a single nail was used. The temple was erected in 1715-1747, later in 1852 the church was rebuilt, as a result of which two more domes were added to the building. St. George's Church is a striking example of a monumental wooden structure of the Baroque period. The popularity of the temple came after several episodes of the film "Viy" based on the story of the same name by Gogol were filmed in its interiors.

Atmospheric place!
I went on an excursion to Chernigov and for dessert we were taken to Sednev. The church is wonderful, so warm and sincere! Of course, its restoration leaves much to be desired, the logs are stacked very sloppy and there is no decoration inside. But the atmosphere is cool, stories about the shooting of the film Viy in the church, a creaky door, a huge pear tree and huge haystacks in the yard! Phew! If you go to Chernihiv, look into Sednev, the places are very beautiful!→

Rare and famous wooden church
Georgievskaya (Yurievskaya) Church - a wooden church of 1715-47. It was built on the territory of an ancient settlement in the traditional forms of wooden monumental architecture. It was rebuilt in 1852. The temple is known for the fact that the film of the same name based on the work of Gogol "Viy" was once filmed in it, and then it stood in desolation for many years. At present, except for the golden crosses and domes, everything again requires restoration (although it was recently carried out).→
