The Nicholas Monastery was founded as a Basilian monastery in 1718 in the neighboring village of Kalinovka, in 1748 it was transferred to Shargorod. After joining the region to the Russian Empire, the monastery in 1795-1799. was the residence of the head of the newly established Orthodox Bratslav diocese. From 1937 to 1986 the monastery was closed. On June 26, 1992, the monastery was consecrated as a male monastery. The monastery complex, surrounded by defensive walls, includes the majestic Nicholas Cathedral, the gate building with a three-tiered bell tower of the middle of the 19th century, the fraternal building with St. Michael's Church, the church of St. Archangel Michael and other Incorporeal Heavenly Forces,
