The first construction of the Holy Resurrection Cathedral dates back to 1702. Later, the church was completed and rebuilt several times. The temple was built at the expense of Sumy colonels Gerasim and Andrey Kondratiev. And later served as their burial place.

The architectural and planning feature of the church is its two-tier structure. The lower (warm or "winter") temple was consecrated in the name of St. Andrew the First-Called, the heavenly patron Andrei Kondratiev, the upper one - in the name of the Resurrection of Christ.

The church was not only a holy monastery, but also a defensive structure, as evidenced by thick walls (up to 1.5 meters) and deeply embedded windows. The large basement had underground passages to the Psel River.

Location of the temple: at the junction of Voskresenskaya Street and Independence Square.

P. S. More recently, a large Cossack cross was installed near the temple, which is now also on the list of city attractions.
