Opened in 1992 at another historic villa in Truskavets - Villa "Goplyana", built in 1925-1928 in the so-called "Zakopane" style without a single nail and was at that time the summer residence of the resort director Raymond Yarosh. To this day, there is a stained glass window on the second floor of the villa, created in 1925 by Polish masters.
Although Mikhail Bilas was born in 1924 in Ivano-Frankivsk region, his family later moved to Lviv region, and the master spent the last years of his life in Truskavets (the artist died recently - in January 2016). The Museum of his work was opened here in 1992, which the people of Truskavets are very proud of - they say, the only such case in the country.
The Museum presents more than 150 works by the master - textiles, embroidery, applique, felt works, etc.
These are art panels, and delightful paintings, and embroidered sacks (blankets), pillows and "bedspreads", and whole diptychs and triptychs dedicated to the lives of local peoples - Hutsuls and Boyks.
It should be noted that the work of Mikhail Bilas was, so to speak, "accepted" under Soviet rule, in 1955 he was awarded the title of People's Artist of Ukraine, and since 1967 Bilas was a member of the Union of Artists of Lviv, held the post of chief fashion designer not only Lviv, but also Kharkiv and Kyiv. Exhibitions of his works have taken place around the world from Canada and the United States to India.
On the ground floor and in the basement of the Museum there are temporary exhibitions of works by local masters, whose work in style and spirit corresponds to the work of a famous countryman.
The museum made a great impression, and therefore I can safely recommend it not only to fans of folk art or applied art, but also to all connoisseurs of beauty and originality.
