The State Oceanarium is the largest research center for underwater biotechnical systems in Ukraine.

The main activities of the oceanarium:

marine biotechnical systems;
underwater technical work;
problems of hydrobionics;
conservation and restoration of rare and endangered species of plants and animals;
general and applied ecology.

The scientific and methodological potential and the experimental base allow conducting multifaceted studies on the coast and in the water area, as well as at depths of up to 2000 meters.

On the basis of the oceanarium, there is a dolphinarium that offers health and therapeutic programs using the Black Sea bottlenose dolphins in a winter pool with heated sea water and air. By the winter season of 2010-2011, additional reconstruction and additional equipment of the winter sea pool was carried out.

Since January 2010, the State Oceanarium in Sevastopol has been conducting rehabilitation dolphin therapy courses for adults and children in the comfortable conditions of an indoor pool.
Recreational swimming is a complex effect on the body. It consists of ultrasonic waves emitted by a dolphin, motor activity, stay in sea water, which has certain healing properties. And, of course, a powerful psychological effect.

A dolphin encourages a person who is in the pool with him to communicate - swimming together, playing games, non-verbal information exchange. And as a result, we get such an effective and positive effect that the most modern medicines cannot give, so "dolphin therapy" is better than any medicines and other methods of treatment.

This is free interaction with an animal with minimal participation of specialists (doctor, psychologist, trainer). In this direction, the client (patient) builds his relationship with the dolphin himself, chooses ways of interaction within the limits of acceptable possibilities. The role of specialists is limited to ensuring the safety of clients and dolphins. Swimming can be individual, group, family.
