The memorial sign Catherine's Mile is located on the North side of Sevastopol. It was installed in 1786 along with many other "Catherine's miles" - thus marking the route from St. Petersburg to the Crimea of Empress Catherine II. In Soviet times, most of these monuments were destroyed as a "relic of tsarism."
