Baths of Roffe

Roffe Bath
Crimea, Yalta
The Roffe Baths were built in 1897 in the courtyard of the France Hotel by order of the merchant A. I. Roffe. The building was designed by Nikolai Krasnov, author of Livadia Palace. Baths with heated sea water were installed in the bath for a cleansing and restorative therapeutic effect. Ivan Bunin, Fyodor Chaliapin, Anton Pavlovich Chekhov and other members of the Society of Writers and Scientists rested here. In 1996, the Roffe Baths received the status of a local monument.

Walking along the embankment, people usually pay attention to the "lady with a dog" from the work of the same name by Anton Pavlovich, and the facade of the house behind is not always striking. This house has a rich history, which is long and uninteresting to tell, I only hope to intrigue by the fact that the building was built by Krasnov, the same architect of the Livadia Palace, and was a great success with the elite society ...Anton Chekhov himself often looked there.
